
Howard Brodie
Co-President and General Counsel
Howard is the former Vice President and General Counsel for Purolite Corporation. While at Purolite, he created Purolite’s legal department and managed the Company’s sale to Ecolab in a transaction valued at $3.7B cash.
On February 10, 2025, President Donald J. Trump nominated Howard to serve as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Republic of Finland.
Howard has over 30 years of dedicated, hands-on experience building and running legal departments and practicing corporate law, corporate governance, M&A, corporate and project finance and complex commercial transactions.
Upon graduating from Yale Law School in 1994, Howard clerked for Judge Gilbert Merritt, Chief Judge of the Sixth Circuit, and then practiced commercial law, corporate finance, and mergers and acquisitions at White & Case LLP.
Howard served as Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of the Board of Directors of EMCORE Corporation (NASDAQ: EMKR) for a decade and created the company’s first legal department. Howard then served as Executive Vice President and Chief Legal Officer of Empower Energies, a leading solar energy project developer.
He has served as Secretary on Boards of both public and private companies and regularly advises Boards on corporate governance matters and fiduciary obligations.
Howard serves as a Board member on the Yale Law School Fund Board and is the Endowment Founder of the Howard Wexler Brodie ’93 Center for Jewish and Israeli Law at Yale Law School.
He received a BA in Political Science, summa cum laude, from Duke University in 1989, where he was elected to Phi Beta Kappa, and a J.D. from Yale Law School.
Howard is married to Jimena Brodie and has three children, Shainie (age 24, who holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics from New York University), Mia (age 21, Sophomore at Syracuse University) and Solomon (nine months). Howard and Jimena split their time between Fisher Island, Florida, and Villanova, PA. Howard’s hobbies include slalom waterskiing, road biking and weight training.
